OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ROLE:

As a Bartender at The Ritz-Carlton, you will create exceptional beverage experiences by preparing and serving high-quality drinks while delivering personalized and luxury service. You will uphold Marriott International standards, ensuring every guest interaction is memorable and reflects the brand’s excellence.

No matter what position you are in, there are a few things that are critical to success – creating a safe workplace, following company policies and procedures, upholding quality standards, and ensuring your uniform, personal appearance, and communications are professional. Guest Service Experts will be on their feet and moving around (stand, sit, or walk for an extended time; moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces), managing the menu (read and visually verify information), and taking a hands-on approach to work (move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance and 50 pounds with assistance; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping). Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for Guest Service Experts – to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes
2. Provide engaging, personalized service to guests at the bar and restaurant
3. Maintain full knowledge of beverage menus, promotions, and ingredients
4. Recommend beverages based on guest preferences and upsell when appropriate
5. Ensure bar setup is complete, clean, and stocked before service
6. Monitor responsible alcohol service and comply with legal regulations
7. Handle cash and process payments accurately
8. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area at all times
9. Support inventory control and report stock shortages
10. Coordinate with service team to ensure smooth operations
11. Address guest feedback professionally and escalate when needed
12. Follow Marriott and Ritz-Carlton service standards consistently

Skills & Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent knowledge of cocktails, wines, spirits, and bar techniques

Customer-focused with a friendly and energetic personality

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Attention to detail and accuracy

Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Professional grooming and presentation

Fluency in English (additional languages preferred)

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience as a bartender in luxury hotel or fine dining preferred

Knowledge of international drink recipes and bar operations

Familiarity with POS systems is an advantage

Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Related Work Experience: Less than 1 year related work experience.
