CAD Operator

Parsons is looking for an experienced CAD Operator to join our team! In this role, you will support engineering and construction teams by producing accurate technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software, with a particular focus on roads and infrastructure projects. You will ensure that all drawings comply with project requirements, client standards, and applicable design guidelines.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Preparing detailed and accurate drawings, layouts, and plans using AutoCAD and other computer-aided design software for roads, utilities, and related infrastructure works.

• Converting conceptual designs, sketches, and markups from engineers into clear technical drawings and plans.

• Updating and modifying existing drawings to reflect design changes, site instructions, and project updates.

• Coordinating with site teams to ensure that drawings align with actual site conditions and construction progress, including redlines and as-built information.

• Ensuring all drawings are prepared in accordance with client standards, project specifications, and CAD/BIM guidelines.

• Maintaining organized drawing records and ensuring that updated versions are properly stored, indexed, and readily available to project teams.

• Assisting in the preparation of construction documentation, layouts, shop drawings, and as-built drawings for roads and infrastructure projects.

• Collaborating with civil, structural, utilities, and other engineering disciplines to produce accurate and coordinated technical drawings.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Diploma in Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• 7 years of demonstrable experience in CAD drafting for construction projects, at least 4 years of experience working on roads and infrastructure projects with a strong understanding of site practices and standard details.

• Proficient in AutoCAD.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, civil layouts, cross-sections, and standard details.

• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with good oral and written communication skills.

• Strong computer skills and ability to work with various design software applications and file management systems.

• Familiarity with other CAD tools and basic BIM environments is an advantage.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing preparation.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.

• Excellent organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining drawing logs and revision histories.

• A proactive and solution-oriented mindset when faced with design or technical challenges.
