Automation Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Operations

• Maintain automation systems to ensure high uptime, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), and cyber compliance .

• Establish, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules for automation systems .

• Supervise staff activities to ensure compliance with good engineering practices, international standards, functional safety, and cybersecurity .

• Analyze root causes of technical issues in automation systems and recommend effective solutions .

• Participate in on-call duty to provide maintenance support outside standard working hours .

Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Implement cyber security controls to protect automation assets and support business continuity .

• Comply with integrated management systems covering Occupational Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, Responsible Care, Product Stewardship, and Energy Management .

Projects, Planning & Budgeting

• Plan, prioritize, execute, and monitor automation engineering tasks and projects .

• Handle cost proposals, procurement, manpower hiring, and installation/commissioning under corporate change management procedures .

• Manage spare parts planning and periodic safety stock reviews based on consumption .

• Review inputs for group-level operating budget development .

• Maintain and update technical documentation of automation systems .

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (4 years) in Instrumentation or Electronics .

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in Industrial Control Systems within the Petrochemical or Fertilizer industries .

• Turbo Machinery Control & Protection Systems:

  • Bently Nevada Vibration and Axial Monitoring System

  • CCC Anti-surge Control System

  • Triconex ITCC Systems

  • Woodward and Jaquet Over Speed Protection Systems

  • Woodward Electronic Governors

  • MARK VIe Systems for Gas Turbines

• Fire & Gas and Burner Management Systems

• DCS / ESD Control Systems:

  • Honeywell Experion & Honeywell Safety Systems

  • Triconex Safety Systems

  • Siemens S7 PLC System

  • Allen Bradley PLC Systems

• IT & Networking: Knowledge in computer hardware/software maintenance, cybersecurity guidelines, and networking .

Preferred Qualifications & Soft Skills

• Certification in Functional Safety (Preferred) .

• Middle East working experience (Preferred) .

• Strong technical report writing and English communication skills .

• Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-national team environment .
