Senior Civil & Structural Engineer
Position Summary
The Senior Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for developing conceptual and detailed engineering designs, managing assigned modification projects, and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities. The role serves as a key technical focal point for both in-house and subcontracted engineering work, ensuring compliance with company requirements, industry standards, budget constraints, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management
Coordinate discipline reviews and approvals of engineering designs and interfaces with contractors and vendors.
Review, evaluate, and approve technical documents in consultation with supervisors.
Assess bidder proposals for technical compliance, capability, and adherence to project specifications.
Ensure civil and structural engineering activities are executed within approved scope, budget, quality standards, and timelines.
Provide engineering support during construction and ensure timely delivery of construction-related engineering information.
Review and approve project close-out and as-built documentation.
2. Design & Engineering
Conduct site surveys, field verifications, and data collection for new and existing facilities.
Perform technical reviews and design activities related to:
Land surveying and geotechnical investigations
Roads and drainage systems
Buildings and structural platforms
Retaining walls and underground networks
Foundations, piling works, and support structures
Develop optimized engineering solutions considering cost, constructability, operability, maintainability, and HSSE requirements.
Collaborate with Process, Construction, Maintenance, Operations, Inspection, Reliability, and other stakeholders to ensure design objectives are achieved.
Prepare engineering specifications for:
Reinforced concrete structures
Buildings and earthworks
Roads and underground utility systems
Piling and foundation systems
Perform structural analysis and design calculations for:
Reinforced concrete structures
Pipe racks and pipe bridges
Equipment and machine foundations
Drainage and collection systems
Develop functional layouts for water, sewage, oily water, and other collection systems.
Prepare material take-offs (MTOs), bills of quantities (BOQs), material requisitions, and procurement specifications.
Prepare scopes of work and technical specifications for construction contracts and service agreements.
Conduct technical evaluations of contractor and vendor submissions.
Produce detailed engineering drawings, including:
Foundation drawings
Plot plans
Building layouts
Civil substructure and superstructure drawings
3. Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSSEQ)
Ensure compliance with all applicable HSSEQ policies, procedures, and regulations.
Work closely with HSSEQ teams to support safe project execution.
Maintain and update project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in risk assessment and safety studies, including HAZOP and other project reviews.
4. Reporting
Provide regular progress updates on assigned projects and engineering activities.
Prepare technical and management reports as required.

Qualifications
Education
Mandatory
Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
Experience
Mandatory
Minimum 12 years of engineering and design experience within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or related process industries.
Extensive experience in civil and structural engineering design across multidisciplinary projects.
Strong understanding of project execution, engineering management, and construction support.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles and practices.
Proficiency in international design codes and standards, including:
BS
UBC
IBC
AISC
API
ACI
ASCE
Hands-on experience with engineering software such as:
STAAD.Pro
SAP2000
ETABS
SAFE
AutoCAD
Other relevant design and analysis tools
Ability to prepare detailed engineering calculations, designs, and construction/shop drawings.
Professional Skills
