Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for the category basis e xamination of the historical purchasing patterns

• Understanding the key financial strategies- the goal is to increase sales and profitability of business to drive sustainable growth.

• A&P negotiations and spend management- negotiate for the same with supplier & allocate funds/budget for various market initiates and monitor the spends and returns.

• Make forecasts for product demand to ensure the sustainability of inventory

• Place appropriate orders and follow ups, considering lead times to ensure timely product availability

• Build trust relationships with supplier partners to achieve better pricing and quality of services

• Liaise with supplier to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities of a product category

• Negotiate and review customer contracts on an annual basis as per defined process 

• Work with the sales team to improve store executions and implementations through store visits

• Analyze EPOS data and provide insights to sale steam on consumer insights and market trends

• Coach and mentor all team members, especially direct reports for performance and work closely with them during the various stages of the performance cycle (goal setting, performance evaluations etc.) 

• Collaborate with existing suppliers to expand product categories & also collaborate with new potential suppliers to expand into new product categories to generate revenues

• Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility- develop planogram

• Devise long-term development strategies for product categories

• Develop strategic plan for new launches & also develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products

Requirements and skills

• Proven experience as category manager or similar role

• Solid knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles

• They must have a commercial mindset and understanding of sales & profitability working

• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods

• Proficient in MS Office

• An analytical mind with a strategic ability

• Excellent communication and people skills

• BSc/BA with business administration, marketing or related field
