Machinist

Madre Integrated Engineering | Full time

Operate conventional and CNC machines such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and drilling machines to fabricate and repair components.

Perform precision machining of shafts, couplings, bushings, gears, and other ship components to specified tolerances.

Carry out repair and reconditioning of pumps, valves, propeller shafts, stern tubes, and other rotating equipment.

Interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to determine machining requirements.

Conduct alignment, fitting, and assembly of mechanical parts after machining.

Perform preventive maintenance on workshop machines and tools to ensure operational readiness.

Ensure all machining work complies with quality control standards and project specifications.

Work in coordination with mechanical engineers, supervisors, and other trades during ship repair/refit projects.

Maintain records of machining jobs, consumables, and tool usage.

Follow all shipyard HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Diploma / Technical Certificate in Mechanical or related trade.

Minimum 3–5 years of machinist experience, preferably in shipyard / marine / heavy engineering industries.

Skilled in operating lathes, milling, drilling, and boring machines (manual and CNC).

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.

Knowledge of marine equipment and rotating machinery repairs is an advantage.

Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, dial gauge, etc.).

Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills.

Basic knowledge of welding/fabrication will be an added advantage.
