- Perform abrasive blasting (grit blasting) on steel structures, piping, vessels, and equipment.
- Prepare surfaces to the required cleanliness and profile standards (e.g., SSPC/NACE requirements).
- Inspect blasting equipment before use and ensure proper operation and maintenance.
- Set up blasting equipment, hoses, compressors, and related tools safely.
- Follow work permits, job safety analyses (JSA), and offshore safety procedures.
- Monitor blasting materials and ensure proper handling and storage.
- Assist coating and painting teams following surface preparation activities.
- Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area.
- Report equipment defects, safety hazards, and operational issues to supervisors.
- Comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and offshore safety standards.
Requirements
- High School Certificate or equivalent.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in abrasive blasting, preferably in offshore oil & gas, marine, or industrial environments.
- Knowledge of surface preparation standards and coating requirements.
- Experience working in challenging offshore conditions.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions and safety procedures.
Certifications
- Valid Offshore Survival Certificate (BOSIET/FOET as applicable).
- H2S Awareness Certificate.
- Medical Fitness Certificate for offshore work.
- Working at Height and Confined Space certification preferred.
