Job Description

The Plant Operator role is a critical position within a leading engineering and facilities maintenance team in the GCC, focused on ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of chiller plants in large commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. This hands‑on role requires a skilled technician with extensive experience in chiller plant operations and maintenance, responsible for maintaining optimal cooling performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting the seamless functioning of critical infrastructure. The operator plays a key role in system monitoring, preventive maintenance, fault resolution, and compliance with safety and operational standards, contributing directly to the energy efficiency and reliability of facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor chiller plant equipment on a daily basis.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure system integrity and performance.
• Identify and resolve electrical and electronic faults in chiller systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to reduce equipment downtime.
• Monitor chilled water systems, pumps, motors, cooling towers, and control panels.
• Accurately record operational data and maintenance activities.
• Respond promptly to equipment issues and support troubleshooting efforts.
• Ensure all tasks are performed in compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams and supervisors to uphold operational excellence.

Requirements

• ITI in Electrical, Electronics, HVAC, Refrigeration, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in chiller plant operations and maintenance.
• Proven experience in commercial buildings, industrial facilities, hotels, hospitals, airports, shopping malls, or large infrastructure projects.
• GCC experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Practical knowledge of chiller plant operations, HVAC systems, and chilled water systems.
• Competency in electrical & electronics maintenance, motor control panels, and cooling towers.
• Experience with preventive maintenance, fault finding, and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
• Strong understanding of industrial safety procedures.
