Arabic Acquistion and Home Language Teacher

Scope:

Head of Multilingualism, Arabic Language Coordinator

Candidate Qualities and Experience:

The successful candidate should be an adaptable and inspiring educator, capable of delivering a coherent, integrated, inquiry-based programme. They should be an outstanding teacher, motivator, and communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, able to prepare students for international programmes in a stimulating and well-organized environment. The candidate must provide professional expertise, high-quality teaching, and ensure improved standards of learning and achievement for all students.

1. Qualifications and Experience:

• 1.1 A Bachelor’s degree in Arabic language is required.
• 1.2 Experience teaching native and non-native Arabic speakers in an IB or international setting is required.

2. Knowledge and Skills:

• 2.1 Alignment with ISL values of belonging, integrity, grit, and kindness.
• 2.2 Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to an international school environment; proficiency in mother-tongue language and English.
• 2.3 Understanding of current research on child learning and ability to motivate students.
• 2.4 Ability to inspire diverse classes through differentiated instruction and engaging learning opportunities.
• 2.5 Support student needs in learning and pastoral matters.
• 2.6 Awareness of current developments in mother-tongue language and team development within the Multilingualism department.

3. Responsibilities:

• 3.1 Implement the Multilingualism policy and strategic plans.
• 3.2 Collaborate with Primary, Middle, and High School teams and curriculum leaders to ensure effective curriculum delivery.
• 3.3 Participate in designing, developing, implementing, and reviewing Multilingualism programmes.
• 3.4 Promote health and safety of classes.
• 3.5 Engage in professional development and staff training.
• 3.6 Foster team spirit and collaboration within the department and across the school.
• 3.7 Support community service and global citizenship initiatives.
• 3.8 Contribute to extracurricular activities.
• 3.9 Promote positive relations between the Multilingualism department and the wider community.
• 3.10 Enhance the professional standing of the faculty.
