Position Overview

The Planner / Scheduler is responsible for preparing and maintaining Primavera schedules in line with project scope and shutdown windows. The role will support the Planning Manager in all scheduling-related activities for major shutdown and turnaround projects within the Oil & Gas sector.

The ideal candidate must possess hands-on experience in major shutdowns/turnarounds and strong knowledge of static equipment, piping, structural works, scaffolding, insulation, and painting activities.

Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to client-side preventive maintenance scope will not be considered suitable for this position.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Planning & Scheduling

• Develop and maintain Level IV Primavera schedules covering the full shutdown/turnaround scope.

• Break down project scope into logical and sequential activities.

• Prepare detailed shutdown schedules independently based on approved scope and shutdown duration.

• Develop daily, weekly, and monthly look-ahead plans with appropriate levels of detail.

• Prepare recovery schedules and Time Impact Analysis (TIA) where required.

• Monitor project progress and update schedules regularly.

Technical Scope Understanding

• Possess good understanding of static equipment including columns, exchangers, vessels, control valves, level gauges, and related equipment.

• Understand sequencing and execution methodology for:

  • Piping fabrication and erection

  • Structural fabrication

  • Scaffolding

  • Insulation

  • Painting activities

• Understand productivity norms and shutdown execution requirements.

Reporting & Coordination

• Develop reporting templates and maintain systematic reporting systems.

• Consolidate project data and generate progress reports for management review.

• Coordinate with project teams to ensure schedule alignment and execution support.

• Present planning and scheduling data in a clear and systematic manner.

Contract & Documentation Support

• Support preparation of contractual correspondence related to scheduling and project delays.

• Maintain accurate project records and schedule documentation.

Education & Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.

• Good command of MS Office applications.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of experience in Planning/Scheduling within the Oil & Gas industry.

• Must have completed minimum 6 major shutdowns/turnarounds as Scheduler.

• Must have handled at least 4 major Turnarounds independently as Scheduler.

• Hands-on experience in Project Planning using Primavera P6.

• Experience in preparation of recovery plans and Time Impact Analysis (TIA).

• Ability to manage and analyze large volumes of quantitative data using spreadsheets and databases.

Important Note

Candidates with experience limited to client-side preventive maintenance activities will not be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with direct shutdown/turnaround contractor experience in major Oil & Gas projects.
