Applications Support (Developer)

The Applications Support (Developer) is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing business applications, including front-end, server-side, and database components. The role is required to perform the full support lifecycle of IT Projects including analysis, design development, testing, implementation, integration, and documentation while ensuring adherence to the company’s principles, methods, standards and quality control processes and procedures.

Application Support & Maintenance

• Support and maintain business applications, including front-end, back-end, and database components.
• Support and maintain interfaces and integrations between various business applications.
• Implement application enhancements, new functionalities, patches, and maintenance releases.
• Test, validate, and prototype new applications, patches, and software updates before deployment.
• Monitor business applications proactively to identify potential issues and prevent system outages.
• Troubleshoot application issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement timely resolutions to maximise system performance and minimise downtime.

Systems & Application Support

• Support the execution of the applications deployment plan for application launch, fixes, changes, and upgrades as per the defined quality standards and SLAs in order to provide robust technological support to business.
• Manage applications related coordination with third-party vendors, if required, in order to perform system support activities efficiently and effectively in accordance with business requirements.
• Timely troubleshooting services of systems and applications to facilitate business continuity.
• Ensure that all change requests are acted upon and closed in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with defined procedures and SLAs.

Information Security

• Ensure that the application security controls are set as per the policies and standards communicated by the Information Security Department.
• Ensure appropriate security has been applied in the IT systems in order to minimize the risk of data loss from system malfunction, fire, theft, or malicious attacks (hacking/viruses).
• Ensure compliance with information security requirements, policies, and standards.

Applications Documentation

• Maintain system documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
• Document programs according to the business model in place.

MIS and Reports

• Coordinate the preparation of timely and accurate functional statements and reports to meet functional requirements, policies, and standards.
• Ensure the accuracy of analysis.
• Ensure the timely submission of reports.

Related Assignments

• Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.
• Act as a back-up in the absence of a colleague.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of relevant IT experience.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in designing, developing, installing, configuring, and updating systems and applications.
• Experience in the banking sector is preferred.

Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical)

• Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Knowledge and experience of the full IT project development lifecycle, including Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, and Documentation of banking applications.
• Proficiency in Java and .NET with C#.
• Experience with Web Applications and Web Services.
• Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase databases.
• Extensive hands‑on experience in developing interfaces.
• Expert knowledge of middleware (MQ).
• Knowledge of the banking sector in Qatar and the region is preferred.
• Knowledge of the latest IT developments and industry trends.
• Knowledge of system integration and administration.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Strong planning and organisational skills.
