Waiter/Waitress

Overview

The Waiter/Waitress is responsible for providing outstanding service to restaurant guests. This includes presenting menu options, offering recommendations when needed, serving food and beverages, and addressing guest inquiries.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests as they enter the restaurant.
• Present menus, answer questions about menu items, and offer recommendations.
• Take accurate food and drink orders using a POS system (Micros).
• Communicate with the kitchen about orders and be clear about guests’ special requests.
• Ensure timely delivery of meals and drinks.
• Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction and provide additional assistance as needed.
• Process payments, issue receipts, and handle cash or card transactions.
• Keep tables and the dining area tidy at all times.
• Follow all health & safety, food safety and hygiene regulations and hotel procedures.
• Monitor stock and supplies in the restaurant and communicate shortages (e.g., linen, glassware).
• Support opening and closing procedures.
• Take reservations in coordination with the supervisor and hostess/host, if necessary due to special guest requests.
• Monitor operating supplies and equipment to reduce spoilage and waste.
• Ensure Food and Beverage orders are of a consistently good standard and delivered promptly.
• Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by hotel management.

Background

• We hire for attitude and competencies, and train for skills!
• High school diploma preferred but often not required.
• Previous hospitality or food service experience.
