Position Overview

Leading Main Contractor is seeking an experienced MEP Manager to lead and manage all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), Fire Protection, ELV, and specialist systems throughout the execution of a major building construction project.

The MEP Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, technical management, supervision, and successful delivery of all MEP works, primarily through the management of the nominated MEP subcontractor(s). The role requires close coordination with the Engineering, Construction, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, HSE, Commercial, Consultant, and Client teams to ensure that all MEP works are executed in accordance with the contract requirements, approved programme, and project quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all MEP activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the Contractor's focal point for all MEP-related technical and construction matters.
• Manage and supervise the performance of MEP subcontractor(s), ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, project specifications, approved drawings, quality standards, and project schedule.
• Review and coordinate the MEP subcontractor's Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Sample Submittals, Method Statements, Technical Queries (TQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Testing & Commissioning Procedures, Builder's Works Requirements.
• Ensure all MEP technical submissions are properly coordinated with Architectural, Structural, Civil, and other specialist disciplines before submission to the Consultant.
• Monitor and expedite Consultant and Client approvals to avoid delays to procurement and construction.
• Coordinate procurement activities for long-lead MEP equipment and materials.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination meetings involving Consultants, Clients, Engineering, Construction teams, and subcontractors.
• Review BIM models and participate in coordination and clash detection activities to ensure constructability and proper system integration.
• Monitor MEP installation progress and ensure works are executed in accordance with approved shop drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Identify and resolve technical, interface, and construction issues affecting MEP works.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections, integrated systems testing, and handover activities.
• Monitor subcontractor manpower, resources, productivity, and progress, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
• Support the Commercial team with technical evaluations, variation orders, and subcontract administration.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, local authority requirements, applicable codes, and manufacturer recommendations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• 15–20 years of experience in building construction projects.
• Minimum 10 years with major main contractors managing MEP works.
• Proven experience managing large MEP subcontract packages on high-value building projects.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, Fire Fighting, Electrical, ELV, BMS, and associated building systems.
• Extensive experience managing MEP technical submissions, procurement coordination, testing & commissioning, and project handover.
• Previous experience in Qatar or the GCC is mandatory.

Other Qualifications

• MMUP (UPDA) registration in Qatar (preferred).
• Experience delivering high-rise, mixed-use, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, or major institutional projects.
• Familiarity with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), KAHRAMAA, Civil Defence, and other local authority requirements.
• Experience with Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Procore, or similar document management systems.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of building MEP systems and construction methodologies.
• Experience reviewing BIM models for coordination and clash detection.
• Ability to review technical submissions rather than perform system design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (coordination level), Navisworks, Microsoft Office, and project collaboration platforms.
• Strong planning, coordination, and subcontractor management skills.

Applicants whose experience is primarily in MEP design consultancy or engineering design firms, without significant responsibility for contractor-side execution, coordination, subcontractor management, and project delivery, should not apply for this role as they will not be considered.
