Location: Qatar (Offshore)Contract Type: 12-month contract, with possibility to extend
Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off
Working Hours: 12 hours/day (offshore)
Role Overview
Seeking highly experienced Well Test Engineers / DST Specialists to support offshore well testing activities. The role requires extensive hands-on and supervisory experience in Drill Stem Testing (DST), well testing, and high-rate gas well operations, with a strong emphasis on operational safety, equipment integrity, and real-time technical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite technical supervision of offshore well testing and DST operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise safe execution of well testing activities, including well clean-up and flow/testing operations.
- Provide technical expertise on DST strings, downhole test tools, well testing equipment, and associated systems.
- Monitor operational and well parameters and make sound real-time operational decisions during testing activities.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical or operational issues encountered during well testing/DST campaigns.
- Coordinate well testing activities with drilling, completions, intervention, stimulation, and other offshore operations.
- Support testing activities associated with high-rate and sour-gas wells.
- Support well testing operations associated with stimulation and acid operations, where applicable.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements, particularly during operations involving H₂S and sour-gas environments.
- Participate in operational planning, risk assessments, procedure reviews, and preparation/review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities to improve operational safety, efficiency, and consistency.
- Coordinate effectively with contractors, service companies, and multidisciplinary multinational teams.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, reporting, and handover information.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum 12 years of offshore DST / Well Testing experience.
- Extensive knowledge of DST operations, well testing equipment, and associated downhole/surface systems.
- Demonstrated experience working in H₂S environments.
- Valid HUET certification.
- Valid H₂S Level 2 certification.
- Strong troubleshooting capability and ability to make timely operational decisions during critical well activities.
- Strong commitment to offshore safety and operational discipline.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work a 28/28 offshore rotation.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience with high-rate gas and/or sour-gas wells.
- Experience with carbonate stimulation, acidizing, or associated well testing operations.
- Exposure to well completions and intervention activities would be advantageous.
- Previous experience supervising technically complex offshore well testing/DST campaigns.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced offshore Well Testing/DST specialist with strong technical knowledge of well testing operations, downhole testing systems, and high-rate gas well operations. Candidates should demonstrate excellent safety awareness, troubleshooting capability, and operational judgment, with the ability to supervise critical activities and work effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational offshore teams.
