Lead Engineer

Lead engineering at GRO Solutions: own our mobile experience, backend platform and infrastructure end to end, and build the engineering organization behind an investor-backed AI financial companion.

About the role

GRO Solutions is building GRO, a privacy-first AI financial companion that turns everyday money decisions into lasting financial confidence. We are backed by GrowthX Capital, headquartered in Doha, and heading into launch — and we are looking for a Lead Engineer to take the product from first release to scale. This is a founding leadership position. You will own engineering end to end: the mobile experience our users live in, the platform it runs on, the way we ship, and the team we build around it. You will work directly with the founding team, stay hands-on where it matters most in the early phase, and grow into leading the engineering organization as the company scales.

• The mobile experience — a cross-platform consumer app that has to feel effortless while handling something as personal as money.
• Releases on the App Store and Google Play — quality, cadence and store operations at the standard a financial product demands.
• The backend platform — API-first services built for correctness, auditability and scale.
• Cloud infrastructure and delivery — the pipelines, environments, observability and resilience behind everything we ship.
• Security engineering — leading the security-first culture that a product built on trust runs on.
• Compliance engineering — driving our privacy and certification roadmap together with the team.
• The engineering organization — hiring, standards, and the review and delivery culture that keeps quality high as the team grows.

The mandate

Your first mission is to lead GRO through its public launch and the growth that follows. From there the role widens — scaling the platform, shaping how we integrate with the banking ecosystem alongside specialist partners, advancing our certification roadmap, and growing a team of engineers who hold the same bar you set. The earlier phase rewards a builder; everything after rewards a leader. We are looking for someone who is genuinely both.

What we are looking for

• A senior delivery track record in fintech or another regulated, money-handling domain — you have shipped and operated a consumer financial product, not only built one.
• You have shipped cross-platform mobile apps (React Native, Expo or similar) to the App Store and Play Store, including signing, store review and post-launch operations.
• Strong backend depth in the Node and TypeScript ecosystem, relational databases, and API-first, contract-driven design.
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, secrets management and observability are your default way of working, not a side task.
• A security-first instinct: auth hardening, audit trails, PII handling, threat modeling.
• You have built and led an engineering team without losing your edge as an engineer — and you can hire well.
• Clear, direct communication, and the judgment to operate as a true technical counterpart to a founding team.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with the open banking ecosystem and aggregator platforms.
• SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audit experience.
• Product sense for AI-powered consumer apps and the quality and cost discipline they demand.
