Student Affairs Coordinator

Georgetown University in Qatar (GU‑Q) is dedicated to fostering intercultural understanding and community engagement. This full‑time, one‑year term position (August2026–July2027) supports the campus Student Affairs team in building a sense of belonging among a diverse student body. The role focuses on enhancing programs that promote intercultural dialogue, community reflection, and personal belonging.

The position is eligible for sponsorship. The role may be renewed upon completion.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students individually and collectively to foster a sense of belonging and community.
  • Support GU‑Q diversity initiatives that foster cross‑cultural dialogue and more inclusive programming.
  • Encourage and support student involvement in co‑curricular programs to develop planning, organization, communication, money management, creative problem‑solving, and self‑assessment skills.
  • Monitor and promote the use of Campus Groups (GU‑Q Engage) for departmental programs and events.
  • Work closely with the Student Life team to coordinate and support signature programs and university‑wide traditions.
  • Strengthen initiatives that connect local, Qatari, and international students, creating shared experiences of mutual respect and cultural exchange.
  • Enhance key programs such as ESCAPE retreats, International Orientation, First‑Year Introduction, and Student Affairs Iftars.
  • Develop and refine activities that encourage dialogue and collaboration among students from different backgrounds.
  • Collaborate with student leaders and organizations to keep community‑building programs relevant and impactful.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with student groups to understand and respond to emerging community needs.
  • Actively seek ways to bridge cultural and social divides and inculcate healthy habits, ensuring every student feels welcome and valued.
  • Provide logistical support and attend evening and weekend events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; recent GU‑Q graduates (within 2years) preferred.
  • Leadership, mentorship, teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Understanding of Georgetown University’s vision and mission for students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated event‑planning and organization skills.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to learn new policies, meet deadlines, and work under time pressure.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Photoshop and/or InDesign preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and Google Apps.
