Radio Operator - Offshore Jackup Rig

Rotation:35 days on / 35 days off(Standard offshorerotation in Qatar)

Job Description

TheRadio Operatorisresponsible for maintaining all radio communications between the offshore rig,supply vessels, helicopters, and onshore support teams, ensuring safe andefficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Communication Management

• Operate andmonitorVHF, HF, and satellite communication systemsfor rigoperations.
• Relay messagesbetweenrig crew, vessels, helicopters, and onshore teams.
• Maintainemergencycommunication channels24/7.

2. Safety & Emergency Coordination

• Serve as the primarycontact foremergency broadcasts(man overboard, medicalevacuation, etc.).
• Coordinate withQatarCoast Guard, supply boats, and helicoptersduring emergencies.
• Conductdailyradio checksand equipment tests.
• Recordallincoming/outgoing communicationsin the radio logbook.
• Filedailyreportson communication activities.
• Ensure compliancewithmaritime and aviation radio regulations.

4. Equipment Maintenance

• Performbasictroubleshootingof radio and communication equipment.
• Report faults toelectronicstechniciansfor repairs.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum2+yearsas a Radio Operator (offshore/maritime preferred).
• Familiarity withGMDSS(Global Maritime Distress and Safety System).

Certifications

• BOSIET/FOETwith HUET(Mandatory foroffshore Qatar).
• GMDSSRadio Operator License(Requiredby international maritime law).
• H2SAwareness & Basic Firefighting(Often required).

Skills

• Fluent inEnglish(Arabicis a plus).
• Strongcommunication,multitasking, and crisis responseskills.
