Senior Social Media Officer

The Senior Social Media Officer plays a hands-on role in bringing Qatar Airways’ social presence to life, from dreaming up the idea to filming, editing, and publishing it. This is a true generalist role covering the full content lifecycle: ideation, production, day-to-day channel management, and performance tracking across every major social platform. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you will help create content that is timely, relevant, and visually impactful.

Key Responsibilities:

Create and produce dynamic, social-first content end-to-end, from concept and scripting through filming, editing, and publishing.

Manage day-to-day activity across all major social channels (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Threads), protecting brand reputation through timely, accurate, and engaging content.

Plan and maintain content calendars, writing compelling captions and briefs that support business objectives and drive audience engagement.

Grow reach, engagement, and follower base through performance-led planning, SEO awareness, and channel optimisation.

Monitor social metrics and build reporting dashboards (reach, engagement, follower growth, conversions), sharing regular performance insights with leadership.

Coordinate with internal teams (Brand, Content Marketing, Creative, Editorial, Media, Product Marketing), media agencies, and influencers/creators to deliver large-scale campaigns and capture cultural and viral moments.

Provide live event coverage and hands-on content support for major launches and campaigns.

Qualification

About You

We’re seeking a passionate, seasoned content creator and social media generalist for our team. The role is fast-paced, may require irregular hours, quick turnarounds, and flexibility, including weekend work, is essential for success.

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree (preferably in social media/digital marketing, communications, computer animation, 3D/graphic design, business administration or fine arts) and at least five years of experience in social media and content creation are necessary; experience in travel or at a social media agency is advantageous.
• Hands-on, generalist experience managing all major social media channels (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Snapchat, Threads).
• Either graphic design skills paired with editing software proficiency, or videography skills (filming and camera equipment) paired with editing software proficiency.
• Skilled at building innovative content calendars, writing compelling captions, and crafting presentations and reports.
• Proficient with social media scheduling and analytics tools, with an understanding of SEO and its influence on social performance.
• Proven experience in event coverage, influencer and creator management, and partnering with media agencies and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Comfortable managing large-scale, high-profile projects across multiple workstreams, with resilience under pressure and flexibility for nonstandard hours.
• Creative and detail-oriented, up to date with current social media trends and techniques, with excellent written and verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
